Apple smoked bacon (from time to time) - our own dry cured back or streaky bacon gently smoked over Bramley Apple wood chips.

Cherry smoked dry cured bacon - gently and slowly smoked over local cherry wood chips.

These products are smoked in our own smoker carefully watched over  to ensure that the flavour of the wood enhances the meat without smothering the natural flavour of our pork.

Pork Sausage with Breakfast Marmalade, a new product from Downland not only won a Gold Award at Taste of the West in August 2011 but scooped the top accolade of 'Best of Sausages' Trophy in November.

"We are absolutely delighted to have beaten over fifty other award winning sausage entries in the prestigious event. Our sights are now firmly fixed on new products for next year that will please our customers and win even greater public recognition of the Downland brand" says David.

The very best regional food and drink products, producers and retail and hospitality establishments were invited to the prestigious final ceremony of the Taste of the West Awards 2011, sponsored by Waitrose. The ceremony was held at the Eden Project, Cornwall, with the well known broadcaster, journalist and food and drink critic, Nigel Barden presented a total of 30 awards including the coveted Champion Product Award, 19 Best of Category product winners, Best New Product, Best Packaging and five South West Regional Hospitality and Retail awards.
